Father’s Day is here again. It is a time to celebrate all the dads out there as well as moms who serve in the role of both mother and father. I happen to be one of those moms who takes on both roles. It’s so difficult sometimes I just want to crawl into a hole and pull it in after me but then my youngest boy comes up and gives me a hug or brings me a flower from the yard and I remember why I fight so hard for him.
Life is full of difficulties, but our perspective can change the circumstances surrounding those difficulties. When we see an obstacle in the road, do we see it as just an obstacle or do we see it as a learning experience to help us grow? Is it possible for us to come up with creative ways to circumvent that obstacle? I think it’s time we looked at how we view things standing in our way. We can’t always barrel through them and hope for the best. Sometimes these opportunities are there to help us grow. Sometimes they represent a chance for us to help someone else out who may be dealing with the same things we have in the past and they just need someone to come along side and say, “hey, I’ve been through this and look at me now.” Just knowing someone has been in the same circumstance and survived it can give hope when it seems all hope is lost.
Be aware of your perspective when you’re in the middle of a storm. See opportunities where others see obstacle and see how you can change your life for the better. It’s worth it. I know I’m right there with you.
